Disc Golf Physio Warwickshire

Disc golf player throwing on woodland course in Warwickshire

Disc golf is a fast-growing sport that combines movement, coordination, mobility and rotational power. At The Reinge Clinic, we support active people across Warwickshire with Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Biomechanics focused treatment to help you recover from injury, improve movement and continue enjoying the sports you love.

Whether you are struggling with shoulder pain, elbow discomfort, lower back stiffness or mobility restrictions affecting your throw, we use our Sports Science knowledge to look beyond the painful area to understand how movement patterns, strength, posture and mobility may be contributing to the problem.

As proud supporters of Quarry Park Disc Golf Centre in Leamington Spa, we are passionate about helping athletes and active adults stay mobile, strong and injury free.

Common Disc Golf Injuries We Treat

Disc golf places repeated rotational stress through the shoulders, spine and upper limbs. Over time, repetitive throwing patterns, mobility restrictions and muscular imbalance can contribute to pain, stiffness and reduced performance.

Shoulder Injuries

The shoulder is the end point of your throw, but ideally it should not be creating the power. In a well-controlled throw, the power should come from rotation through the spine and trunk, with the shoulder fine tuning and controlling the position of the disc during release.

Shoulder injuries often begin when the shoulder starts doing too much of the work.

Spine Pain

Spinal rotation is the powerhouse of your throw and is responsible for generating the force needed to drive the disc down the fairway. Efficient movement through the spine allows power to be transferred smoothly through the body and into the throw.

However, repetitive spinal rotation without sufficient strength in the surrounding stabilising muscles can place excessive stress through the spine over time, leading to stiffness, and lower back pain.

Upper Limb Pain

The end phase of the throwing movement can place excessive strain through the elbow joint, particularly when repetitive force is transferred poorly through the upper limb.

Similarly, if the neck muscles overwork through incorrect throwing mechanics, nerves can become irritated, sending pain into the shoulder, elbow and hand.

How we can help

Whether you are dealing with shoulder pain, spinal stiffness or upper limb discomfort, early assessment and treatment can help prevent small problems becoming long-term injuries.

We are a small, local, specialist clinic combining Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Sports Science to help you move better, recover effectively and continue enjoying the sports you love.
