What makes us different?

Physiotherapy treatments in Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Solihull

Ian is our Warwick based Chartered Physiotherapist, he has a huge amount of knowledge and experience in this area.

In addition to his degree in Physiotherapy, he has completed a Bachelors Degree in Sport Science, and has completed diplomas in Sport Therapy, Sports Massage, and Personal Training, meaning that he approaches your problems in a very different way.

When Ian assesses you, he looks at your whole body, not just the areas where you are injured or feeling sore. He looks specifically at what caused that injury, both local to your injury, but also in other areas of your body. It is not unusual for him to examine your neck to treat wrist pain, or examine your feet to treat back problems.

Then, using all his knowledge, he not only addresses your pain or injury on a local level, but he makes sure that it does not return by retraining biomechanics in the other areas of your body, that caused the problem in the first place.

Do we offer hands on Physiotherapy?

Sports Massage treatments in Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Solihull

We always use hands on techniques in every assessment and treatment we do. Sadly this is something that has slowly departed NHS treatments, mostly due to the extra time needed to conduct a hands on treatment session, however, in private practice it is nearly always used.

Here at The Reinge Clinic near Warwick, we include hands-on techniques in every one of our physiotherapy treatments, whether that is a muscular testing session to check for weaknesses, or massage therapy to loosen tight muscles. The hands-on approach allows us to get faster responses from treatments.

When we use our hands to release muscles, we get much quicker responses than if we relied solely on stretching to do this for us. We are able to very quickly release the muscles, and then see immediately what effect that has on your pain.

This not only allows you to leave a session feeling less pain than when you came in, but also allows us to better understand what is causing your pain to begin with. This is why every session we do is nearly an hour long, and even our follow-ups are nearly an hour long. This allows us the time to reassess, loosen, and tweak exercises on every single follow-up.

Why do I need to do strength work?

Strength training is a vital component to a physiotherapy treatment at our clinic near Warwick. We can use hands-on techniques to help move the body, assessments to find the source of pain, and even mobilisation of joints and nerves. But sadly, we cannot strengthen your body for you.

Because Ian has an extensive strength and conditioning background, he is able to customise your strength workouts to get you the results that you need, without needing pages of exercises. Sometimes, often one specifically targeted exercise will produce a better effect than a whole list of exercises.

We target our exercises to ensure you get the results that you are looking for, and will tailor them for your job and lifestyle. So, if you work away,  hate or love the gym, this isn’t a problem. Every exercise is customisable.

For long-term solutions to pain and injuries, you will always need some level of strength training. When we loosen your muscles, we effect the tone and this, in turn affects posture and joint movements. However, this loosening effect doesn’t last. Without strength to make the change permanent, the muscle will quickly return to it’s previous position and the pain will return with it.

Frequently Asked Questions about Physiotherapy in Warwick

No all our appointments can be booked directly with us, by calling or emailing us or using our online booking system. There is no need to contact your GP

All our Physiotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Unlike many of our competitors all of our follow up appointments are also 50 minutes long.

Having 50 minutes means that we can reassess your condition at every appointment. This allows us to check that the exercises are doing what we need and you are progressing.

Each follow up will also involve hands on work in the form of massage or soft tissue techniques and we will also check and change exercises at every appointment session.

We don’t feel we can do that effectively in less that 50minutes, so all our appointments last 50 minutes.

Depending on the area that needs to be assessed, we would ask you to bring a pair of shortish shorts, or a strappy top.

This allows us to see as much as possible so we can affectively assess you.

Our assessments often involve taking measurements and watching how muscles interact, so the ability to see the muscles is very useful.

You can either send us an email, give us a call, or use our online booking option.

You are very welcome to call or email Ian or Gina directly to discuss your condition prior to booking.

Physiotherapy is rarely a painful treatment. Assessing an injury or a sore joint can be painful, but allows us to understand where the pain is.

We use hands on techniques within our treatments and these can sometimes be uncomfortable but rarely painful. If things are painful, please let us know so we can modify our assessments or treatments.

If you have a complex health condition, or multiple health conditions,  we will always discus your situation with you prior to any appointment. We want our treatments to work for you, so, if after chatting to you we are unsure whether we can help; we will usually offer a Free assessment to confirm whether we can help with your specific issue.

For those with complex conditions, we will be able to suggest which of our therapists will be the best one for your specific situation.

Yes we can. We have several ways of referring you for imagery if we feel it is necessary.

We would start by writing a letter to your GP detailing the condition and why we feel a Scan or X-ray would be useful. Unlike many clinics, we don’t charge to write letters to GP’s.

If you would prefer to go private, we link in with Scan.com and several local private scanning companies. We can quickly and easily refer you directly for a Private MRI Scan, Ultrasound Scan or X-Ray should you need it without the need for GP involvement.

The results are then sent directly to us,  as well as to you, and we are then able to explain them to you and  to write to your GP for a consultant follow up should this be required.

Ian is our only Chartered Physiotherapist so the only one able to give Physiotherapy Treatments. However, if you would prefer to see a woman, Gina is an advanced level Sports Therapist and can treat most conditions.

Give us a call to talk over your situation and we can ensure you see the right therapist for you.

If you wish to claim on your private insurance, in most instances, you will need to book in with Ian rather than Gina, as many Insurance companies don’t cover Sports Therapy Treatments.
